RayMote W*Admin 3.0 update 2 has been finally released as of 2008/03/14.

RayMote W*Admin 3.0 update 2 solution integrates and simplifies management of complex desktop environments (UNIX, Windows, IBM) running on ultra thin clients. It makes available customized desktops with look of popular window managers with selected local and remote applications for defined group of users. RayMote W*Admin 3.0 with RayMote VDI now makes virtual desktop infrastructure deployment easier, faster and cheaper. New features in RayMote release 3 update 2:

  • RayMote VDI for VMWare ESX infrastructure component available as separated extension with RayMote 3 plugin
  • Support for Sun Ray software 4 (4u2 respectively)
  • SAMBA, rdesktop release updates
  • SeamlessRDP improvements
  • Vast improvements for RDP load balancing engine
  • New super-fast and lightweight Full screen session mode
  • Support for session shadowing has been greatly improved (support for disconnected sessions shadowing, performance improvements)
  • NEW Team session feature - many users can connect to one presentation session, using secure team session PIN/password system, useful for remote training or conferencing
  • Enhanced Sun Ray monitoring and management (current firmware, network packet losses etc)
  • Support for UTF-8 across all RayMote components enabling use of national characters
  • Updated plugins for Secure Global Desktop, RDP, Citrix ICA integration
  • New plugins for Sun VDA client


RayMote W*Admin 3.0 update 1 has been released as of 2006/04/13.

New features in RayMote release 3 update 1:

  • Fullscreen mode (aka RayMote's own CAM/Kiosk mode implementation) improvements (mass storage device access, utmpx/wtmpx session logging)
  • New web console Sun Ray and RayMote event log browser (events like smart card insertion/removal, hot-desking event, application launch/shutdown event, user/group/profiles mgmt events etc)
  • SeamlessRDP functionality implemented (rdesktop 1.4.1TPST02 co-bundled on RayMote installation image including this functionality, performance improvements). Full commercial support available for this RDP client.
  • Improved RDP plugins, RDP load balancing/failover implemented, easy to manage with RayMote web console
  • New Sun Secure Global Desktop (SGD)/Tarantella native clients 4.2 and Sun RDP client (Sun Ray Connector) 1.0 support, including SSO (Single Sign On)
  • New plugins Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 and XFCE 4.2 implemented, XFCE 4.2 co-bundled on RayMote installation image
  • New authentication plugins auth_pin and auth_login implemented - easy to deploy way to customize login process using any combination of user/password/smart card token/PIN code.

  • Implemented LDAP/SQL failover capability for Highly available (HA) RayMote W*Admin based solutions
  • Improved software maintenance - availability of RayMote W*Admin web update services, waupgrade utility
  • More Directory server products supported - OpenLDAP, RedHat Fedora Directory server
